The Enugu State police command on Monday arrested a self-acclaimed preacher, Bishop Ginika Obi, the General Overseer of the City of Liberation and Comfort Ministry, for allegedly swindling his members to the tune of over N500 million.

France has banned politicians from hiring or employing their spouses or children as parliamentary assistants under rules adopted in response to a scandal involving former Prime Minister, Francois Fillon and his wife.  

Early morning train crash injures 48 people in Barcelona

Officials say at least 48 people have been injured, five of them seriously, after a train crashed at a station in the Spanish city of Barcelona this morning.

EFCC chairman Ibrahim Magu accuses banks of aiding Looters

Acting Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu has blamed Nigerian banks for creating a friendly atmosphere for looters to steal money, noting that they are doing everything possible to make sure that the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit, NFIU, is severed from the agency. Magu made the allegation when he received a delegation of the International Monetary Fund, IMF, who were at the Commission’s Head Office in Abuja yesterday July 27th. 

Lagos State Building Control Agency warns against illegal structures

Yesterday, Engr. Olalekan Shodeinde the General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) warned building Owners and Developers to desist from adding other floors or structures to old and existing buildings without obtaining necessary approvals which are given after a thorough engineering appraisal and integrity test on the structure.

At about 2pm two days ago, 25th of July eyewitnesses called the Toll-free emergency line 112 to report that a building had collapsed at No 3 Massey street, Lagos Island. The Emergency responders immediately left base for the scene. As at 7pm last night, 5 children and 10 adults had been rescued. 20 hours after the collapse, the recovery operation is still ongoing by the emergency responders of the LASEMA Response Unit and other responder agencies searching through the debris with Heavy duty and light rescue equipment to ensure that they are no other victims trapped in the rubble.
