Today, the Nigerian Senate passed the Compulsory Treatment and Care of Victims of Gunshots Bill. The Bill, which was sent to the Senate for Concurrence, seeks to establish a law that ensures that victims of gunshot wounds receive necessary treatment from medical workers and assistance from security agencies.

Justice David Oladimeji of the Federal High Court in Ede, Osun State has ordered the former Vice Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Anthony Elujoba, be remanded in Ilesha Prisons after his bail application was dismissed Tuesday morning. Oladimeji is currently standing trial on a seven count charge for allegedly defrauding the institution of N1.4 billion while he was in office. He was arrested by EFCC operatives following a petition that he committed fraud while in office.

The management of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation OSBC, have suspended two of its workers, Kunle Makanjuola and Gbadebo Adepoju, for calling the state governor, Rauf Aregbesola, names on a Whatsapp group.

Both men belong to a group on Instant Messaging app, Whatsapp, called You and I that was created by one of their colleagues, Sola Ajala.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, today swore in Ademola Adeleke, the senator elected to represent Osun West in the Senate. Adeleke takes over from his brother, Isiaka who died suddenly in April.

The obituary of Mr Ike David Ijege who was killed by suspected Badoo members on June 29th alongside his wife Margaret and three sons, has been released by his family. The deceased persons will be buried on Friday July 14th in Lagos.

As part of efforts to stem the rate of attacks carried out by notorious cult group, Badoo, in the town, the police, RRS officials, Vigilantes, DSS, LSNC, OPC, Onyabo and other security agencies today raided criminal hideouts in Ikorodu and its suburbs. Over 50 suspected criminals were arrested.  See photos of the security agent below.

INEC begins Dino Melaye's recall process today

Barring any last minute change, INEC will today begin the recall process of Senator Dino Melaye from the senate. On June 21st, INEC released 188,588 signatures from registered voters in Kogi West Senatorial district seeking the recall of their senator, Dino Melaye.

Melaye has maintained that the process for the collation of signatures was flawed as some of those who signed the recall registers were dead.

Former First lady, Patience Jonathan, has accused acting Chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, of writing to the British consulate in Nigeria to deny her visa to the United Kingdom.

In a petition which was signed by her counsel, G.I. Abibo (SAN) and sent to the House of Reps last week, the former first lady who is currently being investigated by the anti-graft agency for issues bordering on fraud and abuse of office, said Magu in a letter written to UK authorities, made spurious allegations against her all in a bid to stop the UK government from renewing her visa.
