Reps propose six months jail term for anyone that jumps queues

The House of Representatives is proposing a six months jail term for anyone caught jumping queues in public places. The bill which is currently on the floor of the house, scaled second reading yesterday June 1st.

According to the sponsor of the bill, Abubakar Amuda-Kannike (Kwara-APC), the bill if passed will ensure that Nigerians conduct themselves orderly in public places.

Reps summon Finance Minister, AGF over N17bn office equipment procurement

The House of Representatives Committee on Public Procurement has summoned the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, over allegations that N17 billion was used for the procurement of office equipment. The lawmakers also summoned the Auditor-General of the Federation (AGF), Ahmed Idris, and former Accountant-General of the Federation Jonah Otunla, over the transaction.

A Former student of the Ogun State College of Health Technology, Mosunmola, who accused her lecturer, Dr Seyi Adu, of impregnating her, has given birth to a baby boy.

Mosunmola gave birth at a general hospital in Lagos state yesterday June 1st. The new mum and the lecturer are currently at loggerheads over who is the true father of her child.

Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada has asked Pope Francis to apologise for the role the Catholic Church played in the decades-long abuse of aboriginal children in the schools it governed.

Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, h‎as described Ekiti state governor's call for President Buhari's resignation as an act of someone desperate for publicity. Gov. Ayo Fayose yesterday spoke with newsmen in Lagos where he called on President Buhari to resign over his failing heath.

A group of women residing in Lagos, have petitioned the state house of Assembly over the continued harassment faced by women in the state from male traders at most Lagos markets, particularly Balogun and Tejuosho market. The petition was submitted yesterday May 30th. Part of the petition reads:

Nigerian man charged with causing grievous bodily injury after beating 5-year-old boy to death in London

Marvin Iheanacho has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent (GBH) against a 5-year-old boy at a south-east London park. The 38-year-old appeared in custody at Woolwich Crown Court on Tuesday, December 20th. He was remanded into custody to next appear for a pre-trial preparation hearing on Friday, March 10, 2017. A trial date has been scheduled for Monday, May 15, 2017.
The victim, Alex Malcom, from Bromley died in hospital after suffering critical head injuries at Mountsfield Park, Catford on Tuesday, November 22. The investigation was passed to the Homicide and Major Crime Command.
